What We Do

We are bridging the gap between the community and those with special needs by advocating for life, providing resources for growth, and celebrating the full and abundant lives possible for those with special needs.

LIVE

This facet of the project focuses on advocating life for all with special needs.

GROW

This area of the project targets providing resources and information through print media, blogs, social media, and public speaking.

BLOOM

This additional purpose of the project is to celebrate the lives of those who are blooming.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Think about it….What if a teacher thought her kindergarten students were not capable of learning the alphabet or reading?

With that perspective, the first time a child stumbled on a letter, the teacher’s reaction would NOT be, “let us try again.” Instead, it would be, “I knew this child would never be able to learn the alphabet…moving on.”

Can you imagine if that’s what our educators believed? Students’ learning and growth would be stunted and education would crumble.

Education starts with the belief that people need to be given opportunities to learn what they do not now know.

WHY IS THIS THINKING NOT IMPLEMENTED FOR THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS?

It is common in society today to view those with special needs as not capable. This perspective affects the way we teach them and the expectations we hold for them. Often, instead of helping
those with learning differences overcome obstacles, they assume they will fail. This perspective limits their ability to reach their possible potentials.

Bloom Hope hopes to educate people and to inspire them about the fulfilling lives people with special needs can lead.

Education starts with the belief that people need to be given opportunities to learn.

Bloom Hope is based on the idea that people with special needs are like seeds. When planted and nourished, they can grow into beautiful blossoms.
